All-Inclusive Open Range White-tail Hunts

Experience the legendary Plaska Lodge open-range deer hunt, where massive-bodied whitetails with some of the largest antlers in Texas roam thousands of acres of intensively managed habitat. These white-tail are unlike any others in the state, with body sizes nearly double the Texas average and outstanding antler genetics. This is a 100% free-range, fair-chase hunt, where anything can happen at any moment. Hunts are conducted from elevated box stands over feeders, and over the past 30 years, we’ve taken numerous bucks scoring over 160″, with top-end deer reaching the high 180s.

This is a flat rate hunt with no trophy fees. Deer must be a minimum of 135”.
Additional days can be added for $1,000 per day.

A fifty percent deposit is required to book your hunt.

Over two decades ago, frustrated by poor local deer management and the overharvest of young bucks, the founder of Plaska Lodge set out to build something extraordinary; a game preserve in some of the steepest canyon country in the region. Four grueling, hot summers later, he and his two young sons closed the gates on some of the best deer genetics in Texas. The goal wasn’t to make hunting easier, it was to create a place where white-tail and mule deer bucks could reach their full potential. Today, this game preserve is still full of native panhandle deer. These bucks are given the proper management and time to grow record-book caliber antlers that will earn you the bragging rights in any trophy room. These are not tame, pen-raised deer; they’re mature, wary animals that spook easily and test even the most experienced hunters. We favor spot-and-stalk for the thrill and challenge, though traditional blinds and feeders are always available.

Thanks to our prime location in the Texas Panhandle, we’re fortunate to have healthy populations of both species roaming our free-range ranches. Mule deer, with their sleek gray coats, impressive body size, and wide-ranging habits, offer a thrilling challenge. You never know when a true giant might step out. White-tails, the more elusive of the two, are just as exciting to pursue. With a short rifle season and a limited number of hunters taken each year, this is an exclusive opportunity to chase two iconic species in one unforgettable hunt.

This is a flat-rate package for your first trophy. White-tail bucks must meet a 135” minimum, and mule deer bucks must meet a minimum 20” outside spread.
If you take a second trophy it is an additional $2,000 kill fee.

Plaska Lodge’s game preserve is home to an intensively managed herd of native whitetail and mule deer. As part of our ongoing management program, we selectively harvest bucks with inferior genetics to maintain a healthy, high-quality population. These hunts offer a great experience for management bucks up to 8 points and 129″.
